Food prices rise ahead of Ramadhan

CIREBON, West Java: The prices of basic food commodities in
several regencies in the northern coastal area of West Java
province is on the rise, a few days ahead of Ramadhan.

Suryanti, a vegetable vendor in Sumber Market, Cirebon
regency, said that red cabbage cost Rp 2,500 (0.27 U.S. cents) to
Rp 3,000 per kilograms last week, but now it costs Rp 4,500 per
kilogram. Warsa, another vendor at Rajagaluh Market in the
neighboring regency of Majalengka, said that the price of eggs
were Rp 6,200 to Rp 6,500 per kilogram last week, but now it
costs Rp 7,000 to Rp 7,500 per kilogram. -- JP
