Food prices at the fair

Food prices at the fair

From Media Indonesia

Today, Saturday, June 17, 1995, the Jakarta Fair will officially open. I believe the event will be quite invigorating.

As was the case last year, sidewalk vendors can be expected to be present in tents outside the fairgrounds.

I would like to warn visitors about the price gouging that goes on at these makeshift food stalls.

It is true you that may find them very tantalizing because they offer every kind of food imaginable. But be warned that when you ask for the bill, you may be quite shocked to find that they charge fantastic prices for the food you eat. Imagine, last year, it cost me Rp 14,500 for a bowl of bakso and a glass of orange juice.

It is better and safer, hygienically, to buy food inside the fairgrounds. Or if necessary, bring your own food from home.
