Food poisoning, whose fault?

From Koran Tempo

The government will take stern measures against manufacturers
whose products cause food poisoning said Minister of Health
Achmad Sujudi in response to the many recent cases of poisoning
in Bali, Lampung, Jakarta and Bandung.

In fact, cases of food poisoning do not only originate from
food manufacturers, even though they are often seen as the party
deserving the most blame.

Changes to lifestyle, with people tending to dine out rather
than at home with families, and declining purchasing power
meaning that people buy cheaper, less-hygenic foods, increases
the likelihood of poisoning.

Some poisoning cases indicated victims mostly consumed food
not registered with the Ministry of Health. Perhaps we should ask
ourselves why many local warongs are not registered?

When confronted with food poisoning, we should see the problem
from a broader perspective so as to attack it at its root cause.
