Food contest at Jakarta Fair

JAKARTA (JP): Traditional food which used to be favored by
people during Indonesia's struggle for independence in the 1940s
but which has become almost "extinct " today will be on display
at a traditional food contest at the Jakarta Fair next July.

The contest's organizing committee chairperson Mrs. Yogie S.
Memet told Antara shortly after meeting First Lady Tien Soeharto
at the latter's residence on Jl. Cendana on Monday, that she will
form a team to be in charge of "reviving" various traditional
dishes which used to be popular in the old days but have
virtually "disappeared" today.

She said members of the team will visit the country's 27
provinces to collect information regarding popular traditional
food that used to be served.

"The contest will feature all traditional food from the 27
provinces," said Mrs. Yogie, who is wife of Minister of Home
Affairs Yogie S. Memet. (bas)
