Food conference to be held in Bogor

BOGOR, West Java: A number of experts from foreign countries are expected to attend the 4th Asian Food and Nutrition Safety Conference (AFNSC) to take place here on March 2 to March 5.

"The conference is being organized jointly by the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)," chairman of the conference's organizing committee Purwiyatno Hariyadi said on late Friday.

He said a pre-conference symposium would be held on Feb. 29 to March 1, themed "Biotechnology-derived nutritious foods: Challenges and Opportunities in Asia."

Among the issues to be discussed are food and nutrition safety and its relation with the newest technology, he said. -- Antara
