Food arrangement night

JAKARTA (JP): The Sekar Saji Nusantara Foundation will hold an
"Inspiration Participation Night" in a bid to preserve the art of
Indonesian food arrangement, which, it said, has been eroded and
changed by foreign cultures.

The event, which will be held tomorrow at the Regent Hotel,
will include the launching of a book on Indonesian traditions and
cultures, titled Inspirasi Indonesia (Indonesian Inspiration).

According to a statement made available to the Jakarta Post,
the book will be the first of a series aimed at providing ideas
on ways of presenting traditional food.

The foundation's chairperson, Sarah Beddu Amang, said that the
book was compiled by foundation members "who refuse to be trapped
in the modern way of thinking that national tradition is merely a
part of the past".

The Sekar Saji Nusantara Foundation consists of enthusiasts,
and artists of food arrangement. (pwn)
