Following Trump's Orders, US Forces Launch Fresh Strikes on Iran

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that it launched a series of ‘additional self-defence strikes’ against multiple targets in Iran on Wednesday, following the directive of President Donald Trump. US Central Command forces launched additional self-defence strikes today at 5:15 pm Eastern Time against several targets in Iran under the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief, CENTCOM said via social media platform X. The strike was in response to Iran’s unprovoked and continued aggression, according to the US military. Earlier, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said the plan for US military strikes against Iran would focus on ‘key facilities’ in the country, while warning that the imminent operation would be ‘powerful and clear’. US Central Command will be busy tonight because President Trump said we will hit Iran hard, and we will do it, Hegseth told reporters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Trump’s decision to escalate strikes against Iran follows the shooting down of a US Apache helicopter by Iran earlier this week. The regional tensions, which began on 28 February after a combined US-Israeli attack on Iran, have triggered a series of military confrontations, reciprocal attacks, and diplomatic tensions.
