JAKARTA — The Indonesian National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, inaugurated 57 Merah Putih Presisi Bridges in South Sumatra on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The construction of the bridges follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to enhance the welfare of the people. ‘On the other hand, today we also inaugurate the 57 Merah Putih Presisi bridges in accordance with the President’s directive,’ Sigit said in a statement on Saturday. He explained that the bridges were built to ease access for residents, including students, farmers, and people in surrounding areas. ‘Where previously it might have required a detour, these bridges can shorten the journey considerably,’ Sigit added. In addition to facilitating mobility, Sigit hopes the bridges will help reduce logistics costs, particularly for farmers transporting farm produce. ‘We hope that not only will the travel time be shortened, but it will also help cut the farmers’ logistics costs if they pass through that route,’ he noted. During the event, Sigit also expressed appreciation to the ranks of the Polri who have been involved in the bridge construction. ‘Thanks to all ranks, and keep up the enthusiastic work to truly implement the programme of the President for the people,’ he closed.
