Following the Death of Bripka Arya, the Lampung Police Chief Issues an Ultimatum to Robbers: Shoot on Sight, No Tolerance
Lampung, VIVA – The Lampung Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Helfi Assegaf, has issued a strong ultimatum to perpetrators of robbery and motorcycle theft in the Lampung region.
He stated that officers are instructed to take immediate and decisive action against perpetrators. This statement was made following the revelation of a fatal motorcycle theft case that resulted in the death of Bripka (Anumerta) Arya Supena.
In the investigation, one perpetrator named Bahroni, alias Roni, was shot dead by police while resisting arrest. In front of the public, Helfi stated that his department will not give any leeway to robbers, who are considered to be causing great unrest among the public.
“Regarding anticipatory measures, I have stated from the beginning that there will be no tolerance for robbers! Yes, we have ordered them to be shot on sight! Robbers, shoot them on sight! There will be no tolerance,” he said on Friday, May 15, 2026.
According to Helfi, the police investigation shows that the perpetrators’ actions are no longer just ordinary theft. From the profiling conducted, the proceeds from the perpetrators’ crimes are suspected of being used to buy drugs and support other criminal activities.
“And we will prove this, let those who want to try it go ahead. But clearly, we have ordered all ranks to shoot on sight any robbers because this is causing great unrest among the public. They are no longer doing it for survival, because they are using the proceeds of theft to buy drugs,” he said.
The Police Chief also asked the public not to be afraid to report any acts of robbery or other criminal acts. Residents are asked to use the emergency service 110 so that the police can act quickly.
In addition to intensifying law enforcement, the police also reminded the public to be more vigilant against motorcycle theft, which has recently become rampant. Using double locks, parking in well-lit and CCTV-monitored areas, and storing vehicles in closed garages are recommended preventive measures.
In fact, the police said that locking the handlebars to the right is considered more difficult for perpetrators to break.
“Thank you and the highest appreciation to all elements of society who have helped us in the disclosure of this case,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that Bahroni, alias Roni’s escape ended tragically. The man, who is suspected of being the mastermind and executor of the shooting of Bripka Arya, was shot dead by a joint team from the Lampung Police while being arrested in the Teluk Hantu area, Pagar Jaya Village, Punduh Pidada District, Pesawaran Regency.
