Achmad Yani, a member of Commission A of the Jakarta DPRD, has requested the Jakarta Provincial Government to prepare home renovation assistance for residents impacted by the fire in the Krendang area, Tambora District, West Jakarta. Yani expressed hope that the Provincial Government would promptly arrange renovation aid and temporary housing to ensure a faster recovery process.

“The Provincial Government needs to prepare a scheme for home renovation assistance for affected residents, including options for decent temporary housing so that the community does not have to remain in shelters for too long,” Yani stated via text message on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

“I express my deep concern and condolences for the fire tragedy that occurred in the Krendang area, Tambora, West Jakarta,” added Yani. According to Achmad Yani, the incident serves as a reminder that Jakarta’s densely populated residential areas still face a high level of fire vulnerability.

“I urge the Jakarta Provincial Government to act swiftly and not only focus on emergency handling, but also ensure that the recovery of the victims’ lives is carried out thoroughly and humanely,” he said. Yani assessed that several steps must be taken immediately by the Jakarta Provincial Government to assist the victims, including ensuring that all basic needs of displaced residents are met.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of accelerating population administration services for residents who lost important documents due to the fire. Fire victims, he noted, often lose documents such as National Identity Cards (KTP), Family Cards (KK), educational certificates, and various other valuable papers.

“The Civil Registry Office (Dukcapil) must implement proactive ‘door-to-door’ services so that the process of issuing replacement documents can be done quickly and free of charge,” he remarked.

“This incident demonstrates the importance of increasing the number of fire station points, improving fire engine access, and providing fire volunteer training in densely populated environments so that initial responses can be carried out more quickly by residents,” he added. He further stated that the Jakarta DPRD would push for increased supervision and budgeting for fire disaster management.

“We in the Jakarta DPRD will encourage oversight and budgeting to ensure that fire victim handling does not stop at momentary aid, but truly provides a sense of security and social protection for the community,” said the member of the PKS Faction.
