Following Prabowo's Orders, Police Chief Forms Task Force to Eradicate Smuggling
Polri has formed a Task Force (Satgas) for Law Enforcement against Smuggling Crimes. The task force was established to implement the orders of President Prabowo Subianto.
The task force was created to support President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, particularly the seventh point focusing on strengthening legal reforms and eradicating smuggling. Dirtipideksus Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Ade Safri Simanjuntak, stated that the formation of the task force is a follow-up to Prabowo’s instructions to Kapolri Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“As per the President’s directive to the Kapolri to enforce the law strictly against all forms of criminal acts that cause leaks in state revenues, financial losses to the state, or harm to state assets,” said Ade Safri to reporters on Thursday (16/4/2026).
The task force was formed based on the Kapolri’s Order to carry out strict law enforcement against smuggling crimes, corruption, and other criminal acts that harm state finances. The Smuggling Task Force is led by Wakabareskrim Polri, Irjen Nunung Syarifuddin, who acts as Kasatgas.
Meanwhile, the position of Coordinator for the Law Enforcement Team (Gakkum) is held by Dirtipideksus Bareskrim Polri, Brigjen Ade Safri Simanjuntak. Ade Safri explained that the task force’s operations target smuggling of both exports and illegal imports, including natural resource commodities (SDA) and environmental products.
The targeted methods include document smuggling in customs areas as well as physical smuggling outside customs areas. He hopes the task force can prevent violations that lead to the loss of state revenue.
“Our target is all forms of smuggling, whether through methods like under-invoicing, misinvoicing, to misdeclaration, often known as document smuggling, or smuggling carried out outside Customs Areas, often known as physical smuggling,” he explained.
Polri has also instructed the formation of Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Forces at the provincial police level across Indonesia. This is done to strengthen supervision and enforcement at all entry and exit points in Indonesia.
“Polri’s commitment to strict law enforcement against all forms of smuggling crimes to save state assets and recover state financial losses or prevent leaks in state financial revenues,” he said.
