Following Prabowo's Instructions, Kemenimipas Prepares Savings Scheme
The government is currently preparing regulations on one day of work from home (WFH) as a fuel efficiency measure in response to the war in the Middle East. The Ministry of Immigration and Community Affairs (Kemenimipas) stated that it has also prepared savings steps.
“Kemenimipas has implemented work from anywhere (WFA) from 25 to 27 March 2026. We are currently awaiting directions from the Minister following the WFA policy after 30 March 2026,” said Head of the Public Data, Information, and Communication Centre of the Ministry of Imipas, M Akbar Hadiprabowo, to detikcom on Friday (27/3/2026).
Akbar assured that Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto will adopt policies in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives on energy and fuel savings for civil servants (ASN/PNS) starting April 2026. He also said Kemenimipas will prepare several savings measures.
“Kemenimipas will also implement a savings pattern that includes: work from home (WFH) one day per week for office activities, except those directly related to public services; restrictions on official travel/ceremonial activities; optimisation of digital platforms in office administration (e-office); and efficiency in the use of electricity, water, and room cooling in offices. These steps are taken to reduce the state budget subsidy burden and significantly save fuel consumption,” he explained.
“This policy will continue to be evaluated periodically to assess the efficiency impact on energy consumption,” he added.
Nevertheless, Akbar emphasised that immigration services will remain open. He assured that public services will not be disrupted.
“Immigration service offices, and community affairs service offices (prisons, detention centres, and child welfare advisory offices) that deal directly with the public will remain open as usual. Especially in prisons and detention centres, which on Eid al-Fitr day are eagerly awaited by families of inmates for visits to relatives serving sentences,” he said.
It is known that the government has set one day of work from home (WFH) as fuel efficiency due to the Middle East war (Timteng). When will the government announce the WFH day?
“It has been set this week,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in receiving US businessman Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Friday (27/3).
Airlangga said the government will soon announce the WFH day for government employees. Airlangga assessed that the WFH day announcement will not pass March.
