President Prabowo Subianto wants to build housing for residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will prepare rusun (flats) as temporary relocation sites.

“We are just waiting for directions from the central government. If you ask Mr Pram (Jakarta Governor) about supporting central programmes, the answer is definitely yes,” said Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Communications, Chico Hakim, to reporters on Sunday (29/3/2026).

Chico said the rusun would be built by the central government. The provincial government will provide relocation for temporary accommodation.

“The land belongs to the centre, perhaps in the areas around there too, ask the central government. But certainly, we have temporary relocation first. That place is not habitable, so we are preparing our rusun,” he said.

“From DRPKP, we have already prepared Rusun Nagrak and Rorotan (North Jakarta) and Rusun PIK Pulogadung (East Jakarta),” he added.

Chico said the discussion would take place today. The provincial government will meet with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait.

“This afternoon, we will have a meeting with the Minister of PKP,” he explained.

Prabowo Wants to Build Rusun for Senen Railway Track Residents

Previously, Prabowo met with residents or conducted a blusukan (impromptu visit) along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. After absorbing the community’s aspirations, Prabowo ordered several ministers and PT KAI leaders to build decent housing for residents living along the railway tracks in the Senen area.

“Last night, after the blusukan greeting residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta,” wrote Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on the Setkab Instagram account, Friday (27/3).

Prabowo gave the order to Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Acting Director of Perumnas Imelda Alini Pohan, and PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin. The order was given in a limited meeting led by Prabowo.

“President Prabowo immediately ordered the Minister of Housing via telephone because he was in Toba (represented by the Secretary General of the Ministry), the Minister of Public Works, the President Director of Perumnas and KAI (Kereta Api Indonesia), as well as several related officials to build housing for residents still living along the railway tracks,” he said.
