Following Police Chief's Directives, Brimob Prepares Modernisation of Equipment and Training
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has directed the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) to maintain security against potential disruptions, especially the impacts from geopolitical conditions. The Brimob Corps has stated that it is prepared in response to these directives.
“The impact from the Iran-Israel-US war ultimately affects everything, including the impact on essential needs and crucial requirements for the public,” said Brimob Corps Commander Inspector General Ramdani Hidayat to reporters at the Brimob Headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok, on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
“It’s not about the ups and downs of prices, but the impact of those price fluctuations means that Brimob Polri very much needs police personnel to carry out activities related to those issues,” he added.
Ramdani said that his side is already preparing, one of which is the evaluation conducted in every Brimob activity. Evaluations are carried out for the purpose of improvement.
In addition, modernisation of equipment to personnel training systems will be implemented as a form of preparation.
“Whatever incidents occur, we evaluate and fix them, including strengthening equipment, modernising equipment, to training systems. That’s all that we are preparing,” he explained.
Ramdani has conducted a technical work meeting (rakernis) to align perceptions among his members. He emphasised a humane approach to the public.
“Crowd handling now does not have to be with violence. We first demonstrate using soft power. There is community guidance, there is public order. So Brimob’s strength is the last resort,” he said.
However, his side will still ensure that violent actions do not occur so that acts such as destruction, arson, and those threatening lives do not happen.
“If it’s a demonstration, everyone is free to demonstrate, but if it leads to destruction, arson, then endangering someone’s life, even to the point of death, then we will take action,” said Ramdani.
