Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad will not hold the tradition of open house or griya during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE celebration.

Dasco emphasised this while following up on a response to the Circular Letter (SE) issued by State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi.

“This decision is taken in response to the Circular Letter (SE) issued by State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi to all ministers and state officials to avoid excessive open house celebrations during Eid,” Dasco wrote in his statement on Friday (20/3/2026).

This decision is seen as a form of exemplary leadership from legislative figures in implementing the central government’s directive on simplicity.

The circular was issued by Mensesneg to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions during the Full Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace on Friday (13/3/2026).

The circular is addressed to all ministries and agencies in Indonesia.

During the Cabinet Meeting, President Prabowo prohibited officials from holding lavish open houses for Eid al-Fitr 2026.

Prabowo reminded that many people are still affected by disasters.

Nevertheless, Prabowo stressed that this prohibition does not mean officials should not hold open houses at all, as the wheels of the economy must keep turning.

“But we also shouldn’t completely close all events. Otherwise, our economy won’t run,” Prabowo added.
