Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo is confident that the condition of the rupiah will soon stabilise. Perry emphasised this following a meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at the Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (18/05/2026).

“Confident it will be stable,” Perry stated briefly when questioned by the media regarding the volatility and rise in the US dollar exchange rate. Following the statement, Perry departed the Palace Complex.

The meeting lasted until approximately 6:00 PM WIB. In addition to Perry, the meeting was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani.

As information, the US dollar exchange rate has been weakening recently. According to Reuters data on Monday (18/05/2026), the rupiah was at the level of Rp 17,645 per US dollar, weakening by 1.17 per cent compared to the previous trading session.

Stability measures include direct intervention in the foreign exchange market (both domestically and abroad), attracting foreign capital inflows through financial instruments such as BI Rupiah Securities, and purchasing government securities (SBN) to maintain market stability.
