Former Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer or Noel, will apply for a transfer of detention. Noel is currently detained by the KPK as a suspect in an alleged extortion case in the K3 certification process at the Ministry of Manpower.

Noel’s lawyer, Aziz Yanuar, revealed that this application for transfer of detention is being made after the KPK transferred the detention of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, alias Gus Yaqut, to house arrest.

“The plan is like that (to apply for a request for transfer of detention),” said Aziz when contacted on Monday (23/3).

Aziz stated that the granting of Gus Yaqut’s request to become a house detainee is something unusual for the KPK. However, after seeing that Gus Yaqut’s request was granted by the KPK, his side then applied for the transfer of detention.

“Yes, an anomaly (transfer of detention),” Aziz said.

Aziz explained that this application for transfer of detention is being made because his client wants to celebrate Easter. In addition, Noel also needs to undergo treatment for the health issues he is experiencing.

“Because of Easter. Then according to the doctor, he needs a minor medical procedure on his head that requires hospitalisation, there is treatment,” Aziz explained.

All those allegations will be proven in the trial by the prosecutor. Later, the trial is certain to be open to the public.

The KPK suspects that the case ensnaring Deputy Minister of Manpower Emmanuel Ebenezer involves extortions in other sectors. Noel is embroiled in a labour extortion case involving foreign workers.
