Following Cilacap Case, KPK Warns Regional Heads: Do Not Attempt to Give Eid Allowances to Regional Leadership Forums

JAKARTA — The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has cautioned regional heads against providing Eid Holiday Allowances (THR) to Regional Leadership Coordination Forums (Forkopimda). The KPK has assured continued scrutiny of regional heads, even during the Eid holiday season.

This warning came in response to the Cilacap Regency case in Central Java, involving the provision of THR from the regional head to Forkopimda, which ensnared Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL).

“Do not think that because it is Eid and we want to go home to our hometowns, we will allow corruption to occur during this period. We will not. We will continue to take action if anyone dares to commit corruption,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu on Monday (16 March 2026).

The KPK suspects that the practice of providing THR is not limited to Cilacap Regency alone. Therefore, the KPK is warning other regional heads to abandon any intention of providing THR to Forkopimda.

“The KPK suspects that the provision of THR from regional heads to Forkopimda is not only occurring in Cilacap Regency, but also in other regions,” said Asep.

The KPK has called on regional heads and Forkopimda to commit to supporting anti-corruption efforts. One way to do this is to implement good governance principles with integrity without requesting THR.

“The KPK reminds regional heads that they have no obligation to provide anything whatsoever to external parties,” stated Asep.
