Following Central WFH Policy, Pramono: Not a Burden for Jakarta
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has emphasised that his administration will fully follow the central government’s policy on implementing work from home (WFH) or work from everywhere (WFE). “First, for work from everywhere or work from home, the DKI Jakarta Government will fully follow the central government’s directives,” Pramono stated in Central Jakarta on Friday (27/3). He stressed that the policy would not pose a challenge for the DKI Provincial Government. According to him, Jakarta already possesses adequate bureaucratic preparedness and work infrastructure to adapt to the flexible work patterns being prepared by the central government. “Thus, for the DKI Jakarta Government, it is not something that becomes a burden or a difficulty,” he asserted. He added that the DKI Provincial Government is currently awaiting technical regulations from the central government in the form of a ministerial regulation (permen) as the basis for implementing the policy at the local level. “Thus, we are waiting to see if the permen will be issued soon for that regulation,” Pramono said. The WFH/WFE policy itself is being promoted as one of the government’s strategies to curb petroleum fuel (BBM) consumption while easing traffic density in urban areas, including Jakarta. On the other hand, work flexibility is also seen as capable of sustaining the productivity of civil servants amid the high dynamics of urban mobility. The DKI Provincial Government assures that it will promptly follow up on the policy once official regulations are issued, while adjusting the work mechanisms for civil servants to remain effective and accountable.
