Following Andrie Yunus Case, TNI Chief Spokesperson Says BAIS Head Position Replaced
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has carried out the handover of the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) following the acid attack case on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus.
This was revealed after journalists questioned the TNI’s Chief of Information Centre (Kapuspen), Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, about developments in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus.
“Thank you, so we need to state here that, as a form of accountability, today the handover of the BAIS Head position has been carried out,” Aulia said during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
“Thank you,” he added.
Furthermore, TNI Headquarters has not disclosed the identity of the replacement for Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo as Head of TNI BAIS.
Kompas.com attempted to confirm this with TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and TNI BAIS Head Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo. However, neither has responded.
This comes after the TNI Headquarters Military Police Centre (Puspom) received the surrender of suspects and announced it to the public on 18 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB.
From that announcement, it was revealed that Puspom TNI had detained four TNI BAIS personnel with initials Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES before they were transferred to the Jayakarta Military Regional Command (Pomdam Jaya).
They are from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches of the TNI.
Nevertheless, Puspom TNI has not yet disclosed detailed roles, motives, or the full chronology of the attack.
Puspom TNI has assured that they are investigating the masterminds behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
