Focus Areas for Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 Security Phase Announced
Jakarta — The Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police has unveiled several focus areas for the security operations phase of Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026, which will be conducted from 13-25 March 2026.
The Traffic Directorate chief, Kombes Pol Komarudin, stated that the first phase predicts the peak of the homecoming exodus will occur around 16-18 March. “The operations will be divided into three main routes or regions. These include the western route towards Sumatra, the southern route towards Bogor and surrounding areas, and the eastern route towards Central Java, West Java, East Java, and beyond,” he said.
Komarudin stated that at least 101 service posts will be established at various locations. These comprise security posts, service posts, integrated posts, and monitoring posts along road sections expected to experience traffic surges.
“Additionally, the subsequent security phase must account for Eid al-Fitr coinciding closely with Balinese Nyepi Day. There are various community activities we must ensure and anticipate,” he said.
“Furthermore, we must anticipate weather anomalies and forecasts from the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency, as we are currently experiencing medium to high rainfall intensity, which requires careful planning,” he said.
Beyond this, the directorate has also mapped flood-prone and flooding risk points, necessitating specific handling measures, including potential traffic engineering arrangements on roads that become impassable due to flooding.
Metro Jaya Police will conduct Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 for two weeks, from 13-25 March, to manage traffic flow during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
During the operation, more than 6,800 personnel—a combined force of police, military, and relevant agencies—will be deployed across the entire Metro Jaya Police jurisdiction.
