FlyJaya Airline Opens Halim-Ketapang Route to Strengthen West Kalimantan Connectivity
Airline PT Surya Mataram Nusantara (FlyJaya) has opened the Halim Perdanakusuma-Ketapang return route to strengthen connectivity in West Kalimantan while supporting public mobility, trade, investment, and regional tourism. FlyJaya Commercial Director Ary Mercyanto stated that the new route opening is a strategic step for the airline in expanding national air connectivity whilst supporting economic growth and public mobility in West Kalimantan. ‘The inaugural flight for the Halim Perdanakusuma (HLP) – Ketapang (KTG) return route was conducted on Monday (22/6),’ Ary said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. He conveyed that the inaugural flight marks the airline’s commitment to providing easier, more efficient, and reliable air transport access for the public, business players, and industrial sectors with activities in Jakarta and Ketapang. Ary explained that the opening of the Halim–Ketapang route is part of the company’s efforts to meet the market’s increasing demand for direct connectivity. According to him, Ketapang holds a strategic role as one of the economic growth centres in West Kalimantan. Through direct flights from Halim Perdanakusuma, the company aims to provide faster, more comfortable, and efficient access for the public and business players travelling between Jakarta and Ketapang. He further stated that the presence of this new route not only strengthens FlyJaya’s flight network but is also expected to boost regional trade, investment, and tourism activities. ‘We believe that good air connectivity will open up more economic opportunities. FlyJaya is here to be a bridge connecting the public with various new growth centres in Indonesia,’ he said. Since ticket sales opened, Ary said the public has been able to make bookings through FlyJaya’s official website, various online travel agent platforms, and the official travel agent network partnering with the company. In addition to marking the new route opening, FlyJaya also introduced a teaser for a new cabin crew uniform to be officially launched in the coming months. The new design combines modern and professional elements with a contemporary modification of a distinctive Yogyakarta motif. This uniform update is part of FlyJaya’s identity transformation as an airline that continues to evolve without abandoning its cultural roots and the hallmark hospitality of its service. Ary added that with the opening of the Halim–Ketapang route and the various transformation initiatives underway, FlyJaya is optimistic it can continue to expand its contribution to strengthening inter-regional connectivity and supporting the growth of the national aviation industry. ‘We see there are still many potential routes for the ATR72 aircraft where flight frequencies are currently low or even unserved. This shows that our route expansion opportunities going forward are still very significant,’ Ary concluded. FlyJaya currently operates ATR72 aircraft on routes including Jakarta (Halim) - Yogyakarta (Adisucipto), Jakarta (Halim) - Jember, Makassar - Bone, Makassar - Selayar, Balikpapan - Bone, Kendari - Bone, and Kendari - Wakatobi.
