Flower Scattering and Prayers at Bekasi Timur Station to Commemorate Victims of Deadly KRL Accident
Bekasi, Kompas.com — A atmosphere of mourning still envelops Bekasi Timur Station several days after the tragedy of the collision between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Jakarta-Cikarang commuter train on Monday evening (27/4/2026).
In the station yard, usually bustling with the comings and goings of passengers, there are now scattered flowers and lit candles.
Several volunteers and communities crowded the location to hold a flower-scattering action and joint prayers for the victims.
“We extend our condolences for the tragedy at Bekasi Timur Station. May the friends who became victims recover quickly, those who passed receive paradise and the best place there. And the bereaved families be granted strength,” said Anna at the location on Thursday (30/4/2026).
Meanwhile, Bekasi Deputy Mayor Abdul Harris Bobihoe also conveyed deep sorrow over the incident.
He described the tragedy as a major loss, especially since many victims were women.
“This is a lesson for us all that fate is the decision of Allah SWT,” said Harris.
Harris also revealed that the central government has provided direct attention to post-incident handling, including plans for rail line improvements and train crossings.
“The central government will also provide presidential funds assistance to Bekasi City for the construction of a flyover so that incidents like this do not recur,” he said.
Harris also invited the public to pray for the victims and to learn from the tragedy.
Amid the platform, the atmosphere feels different. The place that has long been a space for meetings between departures and returns now holds a story of loss.
Rails and schedules that were usually orderly seem to pause for a moment, replaced by prayers flowing in every corner.
Steps that once hurried to chase time now turn into slow steps, full of respect.
