The condition of the Flower Park located at Cengkareng Timur
village, West Jakarta, is bad. Many of the trees are dying
because of neglect. The park was spruced up in the fiscal year
1993-1994. But after three months the park returned to its
neglected state. This is partly because the quality of the work
of the contractor was below par.

When residents tried to complain to the contractor's
supervisor about the bad work, he just laughed at them. It is
particularly distressing to see goats freely eat the foliage in
the park, yet nobody takes the trouble to chase them away. It is
a sense of community that is lacking in the residents.

I would like to call on the Jakarta Administration or the West
Jakarta Mayor to consider revitalizing the park, as it is not
only enjoyed by elderly people but also by school children in the
area.
