Kupang (ANTARA) - The Flores Timur Regency Government (Pemkab) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has recorded 79 houses on Adonara Island damaged due to a magnitude 4.7 earthquake that occurred on Thursday (9/4) at 00:30 WITA. Flores Timur Regent Anton Doni, contacted by ANTARA from Kupang, stated that the 79 units represent preliminary data on houses with light to severe damage up to 08:30 WITA. “For now, we have received reports that the worst conditions are in Terong Village and Lamahala Village,” he said. He detailed that the damage in Terong Village reached 69 houses, while the rest are in Lamahala Village. This number remains dynamic as the data collection process continues. Currently, he said, a team from the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has been deployed to the site to identify the extent of damage and emergency response needs in the field. The Regent added that his office is continuously updating the damage data as field verification is ongoing. Anton further stated that they have prepared emergency measures, including the distribution of tarps and tents to affected residents, while awaiting further coordination for handling. “We will soon prepare other emergency needs,” he said. Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred on Thursday (9/4) at 00:30 WITA. The epicentre was located at coordinates 8.36° S and 123.15° E, on land 21 kilometres southeast of Larantuka at a depth of five kilometres.
