A Florida airport in the United States is set to be renamed after President Donald Trump, after a bill proposing the change was approved by the state legislature on Thursday (19 February) local time.

Trump, who has put his name on buildings around the world, has sought to leave his mark on the country in an unprecedented branding and construction campaign.

Florida’s Republican-led legislature approved the bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” according to Florida state records, as reported by the AFP news agency on Friday (20 February 2026).

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, once a Trump rival, is expected to sign the bill into law.

The Palm Beach airport, located in a city known for its sandy beaches and luxury homes, is just minutes from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

The airport renaming also requires approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The airport would thus become the latest institution to be renamed after Trump.

Previously, the board of the Kennedy Center — an arts complex and memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy — decided in December last year to rename it the “Trump-Kennedy Center.” The Kennedy Center board, based in Washington, was directly appointed by Trump.

According to US media reports, Trump has also sought to rename Penn Station in New York and Washington’s Dulles International Airport after himself, though those efforts were rejected.

The Treasury Department has also confirmed reports that designs have been created for a special edition US$1 coin featuring Trump’s image, despite laws prohibiting the depiction of a sitting or living president on currency.
