Deputy Regent of Flores Timur, Ignasius Boli Uran, dispatched 300 Economic Census officers in front of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) office in Flores Timur, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), today. Ignasius reminded the census officers to work honestly and not to manipulate data.

According to Ignasius, the data collected by census officers must be accurate. This is because the data depicts a portrait of Flores Timur’s economy over the past ten years and serves as a foundation for future economic policy-making. “So you must be careful and meticulous and do not make writing errors,” Ignasius said during the release of the hundreds of census officers on Thursday (18/8/2026).

Ignasius explained that the 2026 Economic Census officers began with an orientation period of introduction, education, and training. This aimed to ensure they understood their duties and were ready to work in the field. “This Economic Census is being conducted for the fifth time, following those in 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016, and 2026,” he stated.

Overall, Ignasius said, this year’s Economic Census involves 251,000 field officers spread across 31 provinces. According to him, although the Economic Census is a national programme, its implementation serves regional interests. “We must convince our community to provide open and honest data, and of course confidentiality must be maintained,” Ignasius said.

Head of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Office for Flores Timur Regency, Feliksia Penaten Kelo Siola, said the 300 census officers consist of 260 field enumerators and 40 field supervisors. Feliksia invited residents to report if they find any officers working improperly. “Provide the actual data. Let us jointly oversee this major activity because the economic census belongs to the nation. Report if any officers are working improperly,” Feliksia said.

Feliksia hopes the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census can optimally reach all business actors. It is expected to produce valid and up-to-date data as a basis for formulating both national and regional economic policies.
