The death toll from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Flores, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) continues to rise. As of 18.00 WITA today, the number of fatalities stood at 73 people. Meanwhile, the total number of seriously and lightly injured victims was 931 people.

“The provisional tally is 73 dead,” said the head of the Maumere SAR office, Fathur Rahman, on Wednesday evening (19/8/2026).

The earthquake victims are spread across seven regencies in Flores. The highest number of fatalities was in Manggarai Regency with 27 people. There were 32 seriously injured and 104 lightly injured. Most of the victims were in the Reo area.

The next highest number of fatalities was in East Manggarai with 24 people. There were 198 seriously injured and 421 lightly injured.

Next, Nagekeo Regency recorded 11 deaths, 13 seriously injured and 9 lightly injured. In Sikka Regency, 5 people died, 18 were seriously injured and 22 were lightly injured. In Ende Regency, 2 people died, 5 were seriously injured and 67 were lightly injured.

Ngada Regency recorded 2 deaths, 17 seriously injured and 19 lightly injured. Then, West Manggarai Regency recorded 2 deaths, 2 seriously injured and 4 lightly injured.

As for the results of today’s Flores earthquake SAR operation by the joint SAR team, a medical evacuation was carried out using a Basarnas helicopter for an elderly woman named Adelina Ndimas (77). The victim from East Manggarai suffered a head fracture and was evacuated to Komodo Regional General Hospital in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai.

“The victim was evacuated from the Damer medical post, Satar Padut Village, North Lambaleda, East Manggarai,” said Fathur.

The Basarnas Dauphin helicopter team also departed from Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo to Pota District to transport five health workers and medical logistics from the Ministry of Health team.

The joint SAR team also conducted sweeps in several areas of Flores to search for earthquake victims under building rubble. However, the results were nil.

In East Manggarai, the sweep was carried out around Kampung Dampek, Satar Padut Village. For the Manggarai area, the joint SAR team conducted sweeps around Reo District.

Meanwhile, the joint SAR team in Riung, Ngada carried out sweeps and coordination with local residents. The joint SAR team in Mbay, Nagekeo also continued to sweep rural areas.
