Flores Earthquake Update: 68 Fatalities and 213 Injured in East Nusa Tenggara

A total of 68 people have been confirmed dead following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (15/8/2026).

Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Centre, Berton SP Panjaitan, detailed that the fatalities came from Manggarai Regency with 26 people, East Manggarai Regency with 24, Nagekeo Regency with 8, Sikka Regency with 4, Ende Regency with 2, West Manggarai Regency with 2, and Ngada Regency with 2.

“We continue to monitor the development of the casualty figures and will report further when additional victims are found,” Berton said in an official broadcast on Monday (17/8/2026).

The number of injured currently stands at 213 people. He expressed hope that there would be no further increase in either fatalities or injuries.

At present, teams from Bappenas and Basarnas remain on standby in the seven affected regencies. As of today, there are no longer any reports of missing residents in the affected areas.

In addition, the Ministry of Health has dispatched two hospitals and two field hospital units to Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, and Nagekeo Regency. It is hoped that these hospitals will be able to serve residents who are victims of the earthquake and those who need to be evacuated.

Alongside the deployment of field hospitals, the Ministry of Health has also sent two health crisis management teams, with one team stationed in Sikka Regency and another in Ende Regency to oversee field coordination.

Furthermore, two emergency medical teams have been dispatched. The first team is operating in the Ende, Nagekeo, and West Manggarai areas, while the second team is focused on Sikka Regency.

The Ministry of Health has also activated the Health Emergency Operation Centre, with health operations located at nine strategic sites.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), together with joint teams from other ministries and agencies, are also working in the affected areas. According to data obtained, a total of 1,467 joint TNI-Polri personnel and other agency staff continue to work on the ground to address the situation.

In addition, the government has provided defence equipment and air assets totalling 10 units to reach difficult locations and accelerate logistics distribution. There are 5 units in Labuan Bajo and 5 units in Maumere.
