Floods Submerge Four Districts in Cilegon, Residents Evacuated

Several areas in Cilegon, Banten, were flooded after heavy rain. Some residents affected by the flooding were evacuated.

Moderate to heavy rainfall that has drenched Cilegon since Saturday (7 March) resulted in floods in several areas. From elite areas to villages, no area was spared from flooding.

‘The flood in Perum Metro Cilegon Gedong Dalem, Jombang, City of Cilegon has water levels at about 50-100 centimetres,’ said BPBD Cilegon head Damanhuri, on Sunday (8 March 2026).

High rainfall and narrowing of drainage worsen the inundation that entered residential areas. BPBD Cilegon recorded at least four districts—Grogol, Ciwandan, Cibeber, and Jombang—affected by flooding.

‘Causes, rainfall of moderate to heavy intensity, water channels or drainage narrowing,’ he said.

‘Furthermore, the dam in Jombang sub-district breached, causing water to overflow into residential areas. Joint officers from BPBD and several other parties evacuated residents to safe places.’

‘The river embankment breached, causing overflow into residential areas,’ he said.

‘Current data show about 1,700 people affected by floods in Jombang and surrounding areas. Hundreds of people were evacuated by officers from flooded homes.’

‘There were no casualties; several residents evacuated to safer places,’ he said.
