Floods Submerge Depok–Tangsel Access in Cinere, Residents Urged Not to Force Their Way Through
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Flooding has submerged Jalan Bandung in Cinere, specifically at the bridge connecting the border areas of Depok and South Tangerang (Tangsel), on Monday (20/4/2026). Although the water has begun to recede, the public is still advised not to cross the road access because the pooling water continues to cover the connecting bridge. “The public is advised not to cross until the water level is below the bridge,” said the Operational Service Coordinator of the South Tangerang BPBD Duty Officer, Dian Wiryawan, when confirmed by Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Monday. “Flooding started from 04.00 WIB in the morning,” Dian added. The water pooling has blocked the bridge commonly used by residents as a shortcut between Depok and South Tangerang, thereby disrupting community mobility. “Residents who usually use the shortcut via the Jalan Bandung bridge are having difficulty passing through because the water is flooding the bridge,” he said. In the morning, the flooding was still visible submerging the bridge area. A vehicle was once stuck in the middle of the pooling water and was evacuated by officers. Over time, the water began to recede gradually. Nevertheless, residents are urged not to force their way through for safety reasons. A video showing the flooding moment at the Depok-Tangsel connecting access in Cinere previously went viral on social media. On the X account @B3doel, the flooding situation has made the inter-regional access unfit for passage, especially because the water covers almost the entire road surface. Additionally, the water flow is quite strong and coloured murky brown. The road surface is almost invisible due to being covered by pooling water, while the water continues to flow across the road like a small river stream. This condition indicates that the pooling height is quite significant and potentially dangerous for drivers passing through.
