Floods continue to submerge seven districts in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, on Friday (27/3). According to data from the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 3,664 households have been affected. The Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of East Java BPBD, Satriyo Nurseno, reported that rain of moderate to heavy intensity that has drenched the Pasuruan area since Tuesday (24/3) is the main trigger for the overflow of river water levels. “On Tuesday, 24 March 2026, from 15:00 to 17:00 WIB, the Pasuruan area experienced rain of moderate to heavy intensity, resulting in flooding in several districts. The flooding was caused by river overflows and inadequate drainage conditions,” said Satriyo. The seven affected districts include Beji, Rejoso, Bangil, Winongan, Grati, Kraton, and Gempol. The worst-hit area was recorded in Bahrowo Hamlet, Kedungringin Village, Beji District, where water levels continued to rise to 110 centimetres. Meanwhile, in Rejoso District, Bandaran Hamlet also experienced a rising water trend up to one metre. In response to the situation, the East Java Governor, along with the Forkopimda team, has directly inspected the disaster site to ensure accelerated handling. They have distributed logistical aid in the form of rubber boats, water pumps, baby supplies (kidsware), as well as clothing packages and food aid for residents in evacuation centres. “The Pasuruan Regency Health Office is also conducting health checks for vulnerable groups at the incident site, while the East Java Social Office is providing trauma healing in the evacuation centres,” he explained. As of now, hundreds of residents are still holding out in evacuation posts, including 467 people in Jarangan Village and 10 people in Rejosolor Village. However, the evacuation pattern is dynamic, with residents returning home in the morning to clean their residences and returning to the posts at night. The Pasuruan Regency BPBD has now activated shelters in three districts, namely Rejoso, Bangil, and Winongan, and is preparing thousands of packed meals daily for residents’ consumption needs. Although the weather in the area is currently observed as partly cloudy, officials remain on alert to anticipate follow-up flooding. “The East Java Provincial BPBD is coordinating with the Maritime BMKG for information and monitoring of sea tides. The BPBD team, together with the Pasuruan Regency BPBD, is preparing packed meals for affected residents and readying boat units to assist residents’ mobility,” said Satriyo.
