Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) has recorded that 12 neighbourhood units (RT) in South Jakarta were inundated by floods due to heavy rain lashing the area. “The flooding was caused by high rainfall intensity and overflow from the Krukut River,” said the Head of the Data and Information Centre for Disasters at BPBD DKI Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, in Jakarta on Saturday. According to him, the heavy rain that struck the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Saturday (2/5) resulted in several puddles in South Jakarta. Yohan added that the flooding affected 12 RT in Petogogan Ward, Kebayoran Baru Subdistrict, South Jakarta. “The water height is 20 cm,” he stated. BPBD DKI Jakarta has mobilised personnel to monitor the puddle conditions in each area and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency (Dinas SDA), Public Works Agency (Dinas Bina Marga), and Environmental and Landscaping Agency (Dinas Gulkarmat) to conduct puddle pumping and ensure that water barriers are functioning properly. “BPBD DKI urges the public to remain cautious and alert to the potential for puddles. In emergency situations, immediately contact the telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours non-stop,” he said.
