Floods on Jl. Ciledug

Floods on Jl. Ciledug

From Neraca

The whole stretch of Jl. Ciledug Raya in South Jakarta was
flooded after the smallest rainfall causing a tremendous slowing
down of the traffic and created lengthy jams.

I recently saw during such a flooding that the cause was the
malfunctioning of the gullies leading to the drainage system.
These inlets were full of sand and perhaps garbage. A number of
persons were trying valiantly to help the water find a way into
the sewerage by using poles but apparently to no avail.

The Jakarta city administration should take immediate action
to repair the clogged drains, otherwise the bitumen of the road
will soon be eroded, another potential condition for traffic
congestion.
