Klaten, Central Java — Flooding has inundated 16 villages across five districts after a breach in the Dengkeng River floodbank on Tuesday (3 March 2026) following heavy rainfall. The local Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 16 desa across five kecamatan were affected by the downpour. The floods forced around 120 residents to flee their homes, with shelters set up at the Desa Cawas Multipurpose Building. The rising waters also disrupted classes at the Tahfidzul Quran Anas Bin Malik Islamic boarding school in Cawas, with flood depths reaching from 50 centimetres to one metre. In Plosowangi, the Sekolah Dasar Negeri 2 Plosowangi was submerged, and mid-term examinations were postponed. Authorities and relief teams were deployed to assess and respond to the situation.
