Floods that struck Ketanggungan District, Brebes Regency, Central Java, until Thursday afternoon (26/3/2026) have not fully subsided. The high water volume is even disrupting the return journey of holidaymakers heading to Jabodetabek.

Field monitoring shows long queues of vehicles from holidaymakers from Purwokerto experiencing congestion since the descent from the Dermoleng Flyover in Ketanggungan District. Vehicles are heading to the toll road via the Pejagan Toll Gate.

One holidaymaker, Idin, 47, is stuck in traffic with his car submerged in water. “My car has been stuck since last night because it’s submerged in water,” said Idin, who is returning to Tangerang with his family. “Yes, we’re still waiting for a mechanic to fix the car,” he explained.

The latest data indicates at least seven villages affected due to the overflow of the Babakan River when heavy rain hit the area from Wednesday night (25/3/2026) until Thursday early morning.

Ketanggungan Sub-district Head, Nuridin, stated the seven flood-affected villages are Cikeusal Lor Village, Buara, Kubangwungu, Karangmalang, Ketanggungan, Padakaton, and Dukuhturi.

In Cikeusal Lor Village, floods have inundated several settlements. In RW 04 (Dukuh Campur), around 400 households (HH) are affected, RW 03 with 100 HH, and RW 07 with 25 HH. “In addition, one resident in RW 07 was injured after being hit by a wall, and two cows were reported dead carried away by the current,” said Nuridin on Thursday (26/3/2026).

Meanwhile, in Buara Village, floods hit five RW: RW 01 around 158 houses, RW 02 around 120 houses, RW 03 around 100 houses, RW 05 around 30 houses, and RW 07 around 160 houses. Additionally, the Cikrowok Bridge is reported to have collapsed, and 13 goats were swept away by the current.

In Kubangwungu Village, water pooling up to knee height for adults has flooded the National Road, making it impassable for small vehicles. “This condition temporarily disrupted traffic flow on that route,” explained Nuridin.

Floods have also widely impacted Karangmalang Village. Five RW are affected: RW 01 around 510 houses, RW 02 526 houses, RW 03 321 houses, RW 04 523 houses, and RW 05 305 houses. “Almost the entire village area is submerged. Even two residents’ houses are reported to have collapsed,” clarified Nuridin.

In Ketanggungan Village, hundreds of houses are also flooded, covering RW 01 with 512 houses, RW 02 with 428 houses, RW 03 with 563 houses, RW 04 with 368 houses, and RW 05 with 578 houses.

In Padakaton Village, around 1,000 HH are affected by floods with water height reaching approximately 50 centimetres. Whereas in Dukuhturi Village, floods have inundated three RW. In RW 01, there are 550 houses with 690 HH affected, RW 02 574 houses with 709 HH affected, and RW 03 265 houses with 310 HH affected.

“The average water height ranges from 50 centimetres to 170 centimetres. This is due to rain that occurred since last night. Although it temporarily receded, there is still a possibility of follow-up flooding considering the weather and river flow remain strong,” stated Nuridin.
