Floods Hit Solo City and Bandung Regency
Solo City in Central Java has been hit by flooding following prolonged heavy rain in the Solo Raya area on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at 21:42 WIB. As of Wednesday, 15 April 2026, at 17:40 WIB, 1,083 households were affected. These households are spread across several sub-districts, including Pajang (130 households), Joyosuran (117), Tipes (211), Bumi (85), Joyontakan (15), Panularan (187), Sondakan (27), Laweyan (9), Sangkrah (47), Kedung Lumbu (230), Jebres (23), and Mojosongo (2). Most affected areas have begun to recede, although data collection is still ongoing in some locations. In addition to pooling water, the incident caused a slope landslide in RW 14, Pajang Sub-district, Laweyan District. Several residents temporarily evacuated to mosques, community halls, schools, and residents’ homes, with dozens of people still requiring logistical support and basic services. The Solo City BPBD, along with related agencies, has carried out emergency responses including assessments, evacuations, and cross-sector coordination. Logistical support distributed includes mattresses, blankets, food packages, ready-to-eat meals, and the establishment of community kitchens by the Social Services and community elements. In the same period, flooding was also reported in Bandung Regency, West Java, triggered by high-intensity rain and increased discharge of the Cisunggalah River, causing an embankment breach on Tuesday (14/4). The flood affected two districts, Majalaya and Bojongsoang, covering four villages: Bojong, Bojongsoang, Bojongsari, and Tegalluar. Preliminary data records around 95 households or 250 people affected, as well as 95 housing units impacted. As of Wednesday, 15 April 2026, conditions in Majalaya District have fully receded, while in Bojongsoang District, water levels remain between 10 and 150 cm. The Bandung Regency BPBD, along with related agencies, continues to conduct assessments, data collection, and urges residents to evacuate to safe places during heavy rain. Efforts to clean up residual mud materials are also being carried out collectively by officials and the community. Currently, the Bandung Regency area is still under hydrometeorological disaster emergency alert status in accordance with decisions by local heads and the governor.
