Floods Hit Jakarta and Tangerang After Overnight Rain

Floods inundate Jakarta and Tangerang after overnight rainfall. In South Jakarta, floodwaters submerged the Kuningan Underpass, closing the route between the Kuningan area and Mampang Prapatan in both directions. The high level of inundation forced several vehicles to stop as water covered parts of the roadway. The flooding was triggered by heavy rainfall since Saturday night, overwhelming the drainage system in the area. In addition to Mampang, floods also affected Jalan Kapten Tendean, prompting motorists to exercise heightened caution. The inundation disrupted traffic, particularly for motorcycles and vehicles with low ground clearance. Not far from Jalan Kapten Tendean, floodwaters also submerged residential areas in Pondok Karya, where water depths ranged from about 30 cm to 1.7 metres. Not far from Jakarta, floods also inundated the residential estate of Perumahan Ciledug Indah in Tangerang after heavy overnight rain, with depths reaching around 80 to 100 cm. Several residents began evacuating to higher ground.
