Floods Drench 10 Areas in Bekasi City After Overnight Heavy Rain
Heavy rain that began around 11:00 pm WIB on Saturday, 7 March 2026, has triggered flooding in Bekasi City, West Java. The Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) recorded at least 10 flood sites across six districts.
BPBD spokesperson Idham Kholid said the downpour started around 11:00 pm WIB and caused standing water in several residential areas.
‘Hujan deras yang terjadi pada hari Sabtu, 7 Maret 2026 pukul 23.00 WIB sampai dengan saat ini di wilayah Kota Bekasi menyebabkan terjadinya beberapa genangan di Kota Bekasi,’ Idham said in a Sunday statement.
Flooding occurred in Mustikajaya, Pondokgede, Pondokmelati, Jatiasih, Rawalumbu, and Bekasi Barat. In Mustikajaya, flooding was in Perumahan Mutiara Gading Timur with water around 30 centimetres.
In Pondokgede there were three flooded points: Jalan Kenanga VI RT 14 RW 15 in Kompleks Duta Indah, Jatimakmur, and Perumahan Jatibening Permai, Jatibening. In Jatibening Permai, water depth was reported at about one metre.
The highest water levels were recorded in the IKIP Dosen Complex, Jatikramat, Jatiasih sub-district, with water around 190 centimetres due to the overflow of Kali Cakung.
Idham said BPBD teams had deployed pumps to accelerate the receding of floodwater.
‘There are currently two active pumps and standby teams at Dosen IKIP, and we have been assisted by a large pump from BBWSCC to speed up reducing water at Perum Dosen IKIP,’ he said.
In Pondokmelati, floods affected Perumahan Chandra Baru RW 017, 021, 022, Jatirahayu sub-district, with water depths ranging from 60 to 80 centimetres.
In Jatiasih, flooding also occurred at Perumahan Bumi Nasio Indah, Jatimekar, with water around 60 centimetres.
In Rawalumbu, floods were observed at three points: Taman Narogong Indah, Pengasinan, with water 50–70 centimetres; and Bumi Bekasi Baru, Sepanjang Jaya, with water about 80 centimetres.
BPBD also logged a flood of around 70 centimetres at Rawalumbu, precisely at Jembatan 0 Pengasinan, but that flooding has since receded.
Additionally, flooding occurred in Bekasi Barat, at Jalan Raya Bintara in front of a petrol station in Bintara, caused by overflow from Kali Cakung. ‘Because of Kali Cakung overflow, two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles cannot pass,’ Idham added.
