The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang City has recorded 20 flood-affected points resulting from heavy rainfall. A total of 6,763 people have been impacted by the disaster.
Based on data from BPBD Serang City at 08:30 WIB today, there are 20 flood incidents. Four homes have been reported damaged due to extreme weather conditions since Sunday (8 March).
“This disaster was triggered by moderate to heavy rainfall that poured down from Sunday early morning (8 March), compounded by river overflow and suboptimal drainage system functionality,” said Diat Hermawan, Head of Operations at BPBD Serang City, on Monday (9 March 2026).
Diat reported that the total number of affected residents reached 2,223 households (KK) or 6,763 people, with 528 homes inundated and 4 homes suffering serious damage.
Kasemen District has become the most severely impacted area with 14 flood points. The worst affected location is in Manggerong Neighbourhood, Sawah Luhur Village, where water levels reached 100 centimetres (1 metre), forcing 22 households to evacuate.
Meanwhile, in Serang District, flooding occurred in Kebaharan Masjid Neighbourhood, Domba Neighbourhood (Lopang Village), and BIP Complex (Unyur Village). In these locations, water has mostly receded.
In Cipocok Jaya District, flooding still inundates the Grand Sutera Complex (Panancangan Village) with impacts affecting 1,950 people. Meanwhile, in Walantaka District, water levels of approximately 20 centimetres are still present in Persada Banten Complex.
“Apart from residential areas, public facilities such as Kasemen Community Health Centre (Puskesmas) and Al Akhyar Mirbath Syaja’ah Islamic Boarding School have also been reported as affected by water overflow,” Diat explained.
Diat assured that personnel and equipment have been deployed to critical locations since the onset of the incident. Several measures have been undertaken by responders, including evacuating residents from deep flood areas, particularly in Kasemen District.
“We have also established evacuation shelters to accommodate 84 people who are currently still evacuated, and are conducting continuous monitoring through the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the BPBD Call Centre,” he said.
