Flooding in South Tangerang Recedes Since Sunday Afternoon
SOUTH TANGERANG, Kompas.com — Flooding that had inundated several areas in South Tangerang city has subsided since Sunday (8 March 2026) afternoon.
“Alhamdulillah it has already receded. Yesterday around 15:45, everything had receded,” said Dian Wiryawan, Operational Services Coordinator of the South Tangerang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), when confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (9 March 2026).
Dian confirmed that as of Monday morning, no areas in South Tangerang remained inundated by flooding.
Nevertheless, the agency continues to monitor several previously affected areas to anticipate the potential for secondary flooding should rain resume.
The BPBD also urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly in areas prone to flooding during high rainfall.
Previously, eight points in South Tangerang city experienced flooding in the early hours of Sunday (8 March 2026). As a result of the incident, more than 800 families were affected.
According to data from the South Tangerang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), flooding began occurring around 00:20 WIB.
“There were eight inundation or flooding points monitored. Water depth varied between 10 centimetres (cm) and 110 cm,” said Dian when confirmed by Kompas.com on Sunday.
