Flooding in Pela Mampang, South Jakarta Nears Two Metres as Water Recedes
Floodwaters in Pela Mampang, Mampang District, South Jakarta reached 1.90 metres, briefly flooding the homes of around 40 households. The waters are now receding, measured at about 10 centimetres. Earlier, the water entered the area after rising from 60 centimetres, peaking at 1.90 metres.
“As of 3:00 pm WIB the flood has somewhat receded to 10 centimetres. At the onset, it reached 60 centimetres, then rose gradually to reach its peak of 1.90 metres, almost two metres,” said PPSU officer Yanti from Pela Mampang Village, speaking at the flood site on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
Detikcom observed at 3:00 pm WIB that the flood still covered the Pondok Arya area in Pela Mampang, with the main road remaining ankle-deep in water. Residents were seen cleaning mud and debris that entered homes and terraces. Police and Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel were stationed on-site, with rubber boats prepared for evacuation operations.
Yanti noted the flood began around 00:20 WIB on Sunday due to the Kali Mampang overflow. Forty households were affected and seven people evacuated to relatives’ homes. “From 12 RTs, one RT comprises 40 households—roughly 480 people affected, all within Pela Mampang. The affected areas include Jalan Kadianti, Jalan Bank, the Podok Arya area, and Pasar Jagal. The current situation, alhamdulillah, has receded; residents are still cleaning up.”
Earlier reports indicated a flood with water approximately two metres high inundating settlements in Jalan Kalandianti, RT 01 RW 08, Pela Mampang. Brimob Polda Metro Jaya helped evacuate residents, with Deputy Commander of Brimob Metro Jaya, Kombes Henik Maryanto, confirming the deployment. Brimob SAR teams arrived at around 10:20 am after reports of residents needing evacuation assistance. They conducted surveys of the flooded settlements, where water depths reached about two metres inside homes and 1.2 metres at the exits.
