Flooding in Grobogan Disrupts Northern Java Railway Services
PT KAI has reported that services on several trains along the northern Central Java route have been disrupted due to flooding that submerged two bridges between Gubug, Tegowanu and Brumbung stations in the Grobogan Regency area of Central Java.
Luqman Arif, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Regional Operations 4 Semarang, said the operating patterns of several trains have been rerouted via the Brumbung-Gundih-Gambringan line. The track has been temporarily closed since 04:35 WIB as floodwaters had covered the rails.
βTo ensure travel safety, the track has been temporarily closed,β Luqman said in a press statement on Monday, 16 February 2026.
The two flood-affected bridges are Bridge 46 on the section between Tegowanu and Brumbung stations, and Bridge 59 on the section between Gubug and Tegowanu stations.
Three trains whose journeys have been rerouted include the Gumarang service on the Jakarta-Surabaya route, the Jayabaya service on the Jakarta-Malang route, and the Harina service on the Bandung-Surabaya route.
Luqman said personnel are continuing to monitor developments on the flooded track sections so that up-to-date information can be relayed promptly. He added that PT KAI extends its apologies for the inconvenience experienced by passengers as a result of the service disruptions.
Heavy rainfall that battered the Grobogan Regency area from Sunday evening (15 February) through to the early hours of Monday morning caused flooding across various parts of the regency.
