Flooding in Ciracas Persists Until Sunday Afternoon
JAKARTA — Flooding has inundated several areas in Rambutan Ward, Ciracas Sub-District, East Jakarta, since Saturday (21/3/2026) until Sunday (22/3/2026) afternoon.
Based on observations at the site, water pooling is still visible in RT 12/RW 2 with a fairly strong current.
The flooded road conditions have made it impossible for vehicles to pass.
One resident, Herman (43), said that this flooding has prevented him from enjoying Eid moments with his extended family.
“Due to this flood, we can’t go around visiting relatives. The flood conditions are getting worse,” said Herman when met at the location on Sunday.
He explained that the water started rising after Maghrib and continued to increase until the early hours.
“Last night the flood came gradually from after Maghrib until 02:00. Usually it recedes by morning, but this time it’s taking a long time,” he said.
According to Herman, the area is frequently hit by flooding every time it rains, even for short durations.
He estimated the current water height at around 60 centimetres and it has entered his home.
He also revealed that throughout 2026, flooding has occurred three times in the area.
“This is already the third flood,” he stated.
For information, Ciracas Sub-District Head Panangaran Ritonga said there are nine neighbourhood units (RW) in Ciracas affected by the flood with heights of 50-75 cm.
The nine RWs in question are RW 05 and RW 06 in Cibubur Ward, RW 02, RW 09, and RW 011 in Kelapa Duren Wetan Ward.
Then there are RW 04 and RW 05 in Ciracas Ward and RW 01 and RW 03 in Rambutan Ward.
“So the water volume from upstream, namely in Cimanggis Depok, is quite large, causing the water to overflow from the Cipinang River,” Ritonga explained.
