Several locations in Tangerang City were flooded. The Metro Tangerang City Police personnel moved quickly to respond to the floods, even going out onto the ground to evacuate residents.

The Chief of Police of Metro Tangerang City, Kombes Raden Muhammad Jauhari, said his forces had immediately deployed personnel to flood-affected areas to help residents in need of assistance.

‘Our personnel immediately carried out evacuations of residents affected by the floods and helped people at points where waterlogging was quite high,’ Jauhari said in a statement on Sunday (8 March 2026).

Besides evacuations, the Metro Tangerang City Police also established a disaster-response post to assist flood-affected communities. The post functions as a coordination hub for aid as well as a service point for residents.

Police officers also conducted traffic control on several flood-affected roads to avoid congestion and prevent vehicles from being trapped in floodwater.

Moreover, for evacuees, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) together with the TNI and the Tangerang City Government have prepared a public kitchen and health-check services for flood victims.

‘We are working with the TNI and the Tangerang City Government to ensure those affected continue to receive assistance, from evacuation and food to health services,’ the Chief of Police said.

He stressed that all personnel would remain on standby in the field until flood conditions have fully receded and normalcy returns.

‘Our priority is the safety and security of the people. Personnel will remain on the ground to help residents until conditions are truly safe,’ he asserted.

The presence of police alongside the TNI and local government at the flood site was welcomed by residents who felt helped by the evacuation and aid provided.
