Flood victims need school uniforms

JAKARTA (JP): Almost 7,300 school children of flood victim families in Tebet, South Jakarta need school uniforms.

The students, ranging from elementary to senior high schools pupils, have had to go to school wearing anything they could save from the recent floods, Tebet District Head M. Syarif Hasan was quoted as saying by Antara yesterday.

According to district records, school uniforms are needed by 3,891 elementary school students, 2,238 junior high school students and 1,168 senior high school students.

Many school buildings, libraries and laboratories in Tebet district were destroyed by the floods which inundated the city on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8. (sur)
