Flood Victims in Buleleng Need Beds and Cooking Equipment
Flash flooding that struck Banjar village, Banjar sub-district, Buleleng regency, has left deep wounds for affected residents. In addition to losing their belongings, some residents have been forced to evacuate temporarily by staying with relatives and family members.
The atmosphere of sorrow still lingers at several affected residential areas. Mud still clings to courtyards and remnants of items swept away by the current are scattered about. For residents whose homes are damaged or filled with flood material, the only temporary option is to seek shelter at family homes.
Ketut Sabtu Sukarta, a resident of Banjar Ambengan, stated that many flood victims have not yet been able to return to their homes. The condition of damaged houses and the loss of household equipment have prevented residents from carrying out activities as normal.
“Flood victims are now staying at the homes of relatives and family members,” said Sukarta when met at the location on Wednesday (11/3/2026).
According to him, the most pressing need at present is not just food, but basic equipment for carrying out daily life. He noted that many residents have lost almost all the contents of their homes after being swept away by the sudden flood current.
“What is most urgent is beds and cooking equipment. Because everything was swept away,” he said.
Without such equipment, residents struggle to rebuild their lives, even though they have already obtained temporary shelter from family.
Sukarta hopes that assistance from the government and volunteers can soon reach the basic needs of directly affected residents.
“Many items have been lost. So if possible, we would like help with beds and cooking equipment first,” he said.
To date, several residents are still attempting to clean their homes of mud and debris brought by the flood. Meanwhile, those whose homes are severely damaged are forced to remain at relatives’ homes while awaiting recovery processes and assistance.
