Flood toll may reach Rp 500m
KEDIRI, East Java: Material losses caused by the Mt. Kidul flash floods in Supit Urang River on July 23 reached more than Rp 500 million (US$35,714), Kediri Regent H. Suparyadi has said.
Suparyadi made the report to Ministry of Public Works expert staff Asrap Hadiroso during an inspection of the disaster area to present relief assistance, Antara said.
The disaster, caused by a rupture in the Supit Urang river dike in Ngancar subdistrict, killed 10 villagers and injured several others.
Material losses also included five sand trucks, eight motorcycles and five bicycles worth Rp 174.5 million, in addition to damage to a four-km drinking water pipeline.
