Flood hits southern Bandung
BANDUNG: At least 119 houses in the southern part of the
Bandung regency have been submerged due to floods since Thursday,
but no residents have sought refuge.
The flood waters also submerged four elementary school
buildings and practically crippled the activities of residents in
the districts of Rancaekek, Bojongsoang and Solokanjeruk on
Saturday.
Water has also inundated 1,350 hectares of rice fields and
destroyed a 2.5 hectare fish hatchery.
"The water level has reached between 50 centimeters and 100
centimeters," Kardi an employee at the Rancaekek district head's
office said.
Meanwhile, the local disaster task force has declared a 'high
alert' status for the flood-ravaged areas.
Ten lifesavers and ten emergency tents and medicines have been
