Flood and Waste Issues Become Main Focus of Musrenbang in West Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Flood and waste problems became the main focus of the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang) for West Jakarta City on Thursday.
“There are six priority programmes that we have conveyed. The first is flood control, where indeed in 2026, West Jakarta still has homework to do, and it is also a serious issue that we must address collaboratively,” said the Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainnah, to reporters on Thursday.
Therefore, one of the steps to be taken is the revitalisation of pump houses and the construction of retaining walls at several points.
“For that, the first priority programme we continue is flood control, where in 2027, among others, the revitalisation of the Carina Sayang pump house, then the construction of retaining walls for connecting channels (PHB), and the construction of bypasses at 39 flood-prone locations,” said Iin.
The next priority programme concerns waste management issues, particularly disposal.
“West Jakarta is still faced with high waste generation, around 807,966 tonnes per year. And today, we have followed up or handled 212,450 tonnes per year. That means, this is only 25 percent that we have done and reused,” said Iin.
“The future target is that we will carry out a collaborative programme where 70 percent of waste can be managed at the source. So, only 30 percent of waste as residue will be transported,” she continued.
Regarding this waste issue, they have proposed improving the performance of TPS 3R, up to waste bank management.
Then another priority programme relates to food self-sufficiency in the West Jakarta area. Urban farming or city farming is still a programme that needs to be continuously promoted because it is considered good.
“Even with limited land, we can do urban farming. And this year in West Jakarta, we will simultaneously plant honeydew squash and golden melon as icons of West Jakarta,” explained Iin.
This urban farming programme can later collaborate with CSR. It is hoped that with this cooperation, benefits can be obtained, especially for farmers and the community.
“And we involve schools for education. Every school also has urban farming,” she said.
From the Musrenbang results produced in each sub-district today, there are 79 proposals accommodated for 2026. Then 1,563 proposals are continued to the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) for 2027, and 342 proposals enter the data bank, as well as 684 proposals that do not meet technical requirements.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rani Maulani, said that cooperation between stakeholders, government, and community elements is very important so that these priority programmes can run.
“But with good cooperation and community participation, insya Allah, West Jakarta can continue to get better in the future,” she said.
Regarding waste issues, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can utilise available lands, for example, as temporary waste storage sites.
“Because waste management also needs land to be supported, like what is still being debated, there is RDF, ITF, and that is indeed also the focus of the central government,” said Rani.
